This
parade is generally considered compulsory for Twyford Cubs & Scouts, and in
fact we always do get a good turn out for what has become something of a
village show piece and which features in the local papers. Last year was a
particularly good turnout – let us do even better this year, so please try to
ensure that your son or daughter is present. Full uniform is required,
including scout trousers (or school trousers if you don’t yet have uniform
trousers, but not jeans or tracksuit
bottoms), and without jackets or coats unless the weather is particularly bad.
Thus it is appropriate for youngsters to wear something warm under their
uniform. And confirming that Beavers are invited to join the parade. If it is raining, we will supply lightweight,
clear plastic ponchos for the younger children.
Once again there is quite a sizeable band to lead the Group, together
with the Guides and Brownies. Twyford Parish Council are funding the band on behalf of the village uniformed organisations and the Royal British
Legion. Timings : Assemble 0950 at the latest at The HQ ready to move off at 1005. The Route This year is once again along London Road, turning right into Sycamore Drive and on into Hermitage. Left on reaching the Wargrave Road, where there will be a brief halt by the Bowling Club for Legion and Parish Council members to fall in, then over the traffic lights to the church. The return trip will be all along London Road, but without the band, arriving back at about 1145 but disbanding in the Catholic church car park. Our own marshals supervise the march, together with any police assistance which is available. Contact details Tom Toy: toys@kfcwargrave.fsnet.co.uk |
