Merlins Patrol retain the Great Breakfast Chase Trophy for another year

posted 12 Oct 2014, 14:07 by Phil Hayes

Saturday 11th October 3 teams of scouts took part in the district night incident competition against teams from around the district. This year the event saw over 20 teams taking part in the ever popular Great Breakfast Chase run by Loddon District Scouts. The campsite chosen for this year's event was Crays Pond Campsite near Goring, with a particularly fiendish hike around the surrounding countryside.

The teams score points for performances on the activities with a few bonus marks thrown in to the mix for having correct kit, collecting items en route etc. This year’s route proved to be particularly tricky to navigate after dark, with many teams becoming lost for a time or failing to complete the full course. As often happens at this event, Twyford leaders finished the evening by acting as the ‘sweep team’ to bring some of the late and lost teams back to camp – all safely arriving back onsite shortly after 3am on Sunday morning. Our teams finshed the event in 20th, 4th and 1st place this year, which earns valuable points towards this year’s Murray Plate competition and allows us to keep the Breakfast Chase trophy for another 12 months.

Well done from all of the leader team.
