Dungboot went ahead on New Year's Day as advertised; it was attended by 22 members of the group, a motley selection of Cub & Scout leaders and Group Exec bods. The day was overcast and breezy, the ground very wet and muddy under foot as we left the road at Southbury for the bridleway towards West End and a gentle stroll round to Shottesbrooke, where the hot chocolate and coffee had strategically been left in a car at Landmark. From there the path by the church led us to Waltham St Lawrence, then along the south side of the railway back to Ruscombe, about 11km in all and a good day in good company. We finished about 14.00, just in time for the rain to fall as the boots came off, so well planned (lucky)!
