Both colonies have recently visited the Easthampstead Park training centre for SEBEV - the Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue Unit.  This unit of volunteers are called out to help with searches for missing vulnerable people - usually children or the elderly and regularly take part in specialist training.  The Beavers had the chance to find their way through an indoor tunnel maze, both with the lights on and again in the dark!  It took a lot of bravery as the volunteers call it the 'Rat Run' and several of our Beavers thought they might meet some!  They were impressed by the radio room and the computer run map system - especially when they could zoom in on our own Scout HQ.  They also got to see the workings of one of the support vehicles which acts as a Control Centre when their teams are deployed on a search.
We took the opportunity to hand over a donation that was made by our Group from part of the proceeds of our bag-packing activity at Christmas.
Our thanks to the SEBEV volunteers for giving up their time to make the evenings so much fun.
